Calling All Beginners

I have been talking to a lot of people who have questioned me about whether WordCamp Atlanta will be over their heads. Rest assured beginners, we have not left you out. In fact we really want to go out of our way to make sure you get enough info to get you on the way to using WordPress.

On the morning of the first day of camp we have planned a two hour hands-on workshop for the complete novice, which will also be a great refresher for new users. So get your laptops charged up (or bring your extension cord) and be ready to take a spin through all of the basic functions to a new WordPress site. We have planned our presentations in four separate tracks throughout the two days. One track during each in time slot will feature presentations applicable to new users such as how to choose themes, the difference between pages and posts and basic search engine optimization for your content.

The presentations have been nailed down and speakers are being contacted so it won’t be long before we have the first draft of our schedule up on the site. Go ahead and get your tickets now since they are going fast and when they are gone, we won’t be able to issue more.

While I am speaking at one of the sessions, I want to let you all know that any time during the weekend, online, offline, afterwards, feel free to approach me and ask questions. That is why I like attending WordCamps… I can help in person.

I know first hand for some attendees, it might even be their first or second time to a conference, so no worries… bring on your WordPress questions.

Also, to the organizers… if you need help in an area, let me know.

I will be a total newbie. I’ve come to some meet ups but really and truly, I don’t know where to begin. I just notified two clients to start getting their “parts” together so I can bring them in and see how to get started. Really looking forward to this!! I have to say that I am hoping to end up with a fairly simple site at the end of this for one of my clients (probably my husband and his voiceover work) so that I’ll have the inspiration and knowledge to move forward with my paying client right afterward. Should we come already set with a theme or at least an idea of a theme before we arrive?

Come to The WordPress Meetup and we will go over everything you need to do to get ready. The more you know about what you want the better. There will be lots of people there to help and there will be a happiness bar to get your questions answered.
